In the keynote presentation at WWDC, Craig Federighi got Siri to whittle down his file search for images to just the photos that Ken had sent him that Craig tagged as Drafts. Nothing seems to have broken in Reaper (5.While Siri can help manage files and Cortana can send news notifications, both now handle contextual follow-up questions. This snappyness is ofcourse quite logical on a clean installed OSX, where there is currently not much stuff installed so farĪgain, hope this thread becomes very useful for any migraters to Sierra 10.12. On previous OSX versions i ran, could be, i don't know.

Overall, my new Sierra install on my macbook feels incredibly snappy, plugins load very fast in Reaper, maybe faster than Hooray for Reaper again ofcourse, regarding this plugin scan process.

Other, way more "plugin scan sensitive" DAW's are Ableton Live, Studio One and to some extend also Logic Pro X. Newly installed thirdparty plugins (so without crashing Reaper). In my experience, Reaper is on of the most "forgiving DAW's" (if i may say so) concerning succesfully scanning In 1 DAW, a plugin may be scanned without a crash, in another DAW, the scan of the same plugin crashes that DAW. This way, it's way more obvious which plugins are causing problems in (certain) DAW's like crashing the DAW whileĭAW scanning of plugins is one of the most notorious and annoying things you meet when using a DAW or more DAW's Then install some other plugins and repeat above. Just install some plugins at once, then run all your DAW's after eachother, to have those newly installed plugins scanned If you, like me, use several DAW's and you are completely re-installing all your plugins from scratch, this is my advise: Just right mouse click on the installer and choose "Open". Hickups and do output sound in all these DAW's.Īlot of plugin installers will give error that installer can't be opened cause it's from unidentified developer. These DAW's open just fine under Sierra and above mentioned plugins do open without I didn't do any deeper performance testing yet in Reaper, with larger projects etc.įor users of Ableton Live 9.7 (64bit), Logic Pro 10.2.4 and Maschine 2.5.0 standalone:

Ilok License manager software seems to work normally under Sierra: my Ilok Eden is seen in the manager. The installers give an error, this is related to Sierra. Sidenote concerning the install of all FXpansion plugins: All Izotope plugins (in AU,VST and VST3 formats) install just fine and open in Reaper without problem in my situation. TDR VOS SlickEQ, free version (AU VST) ALL Native instruments FX plugins and Instrument plugins (AU VST) ALL Meldaproduction plugins (AU VST VST3) ALL Soundtoys plugins V5.1 (both AU and VST) NB: I solely use 64bit plugins on my system, no 32bit, so no bridging necessary !Īnd these are my currently installed plugins, which open all just fine in Reaper and output sound in Reaper, no crashes or whatsever (all latest versions downloaded from respective websites):

(a "regular" install so no portable install used). I am aware of some kind of deep level terminal trick to make it work but i am not gonna do that.

I normally use my UAD Apollo Twin thunderbolt as audiodevice in Reaper, but UAD Macbook 2015 Retina, I7, 2.5 ghz, 4 cores, 16 gig RAM, 512 gig SSD.īuilt-in soundcard used buffersize 512 and 44.1 khz in Reaper. This is just based on my more than 20 years experience with OSX and it's installation (culprits)

Now, i wanna state that a CLEAN install of a major OSX version is always better than UPDATING. I hope this thread is useful for people wanting to head over to Sierra.

I will update this thread on a regular basis. I want to share my findings with you in this thread, concerning installment of plugins and if/how they work in Reaper, under Sierra. My macbook home isn't used for real serious audio work (i have dedicated studio with a Hackintosh for my daily audio job). I did the install from an 8 gig USB 2 stick.įor making this "usb Sierra install stick", i used this nifty and free utility: Took about 40 minutes, the install went without any errors. Yesterday i took the plunge and did a CLEAN install of OSX Sierra on my Macbook Retina 2015.
